Long time no see

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 25, 2007, 7:21 AM

Journal.gifJournal

Hello! It's been a Long time since I wrote something here. There's a reason behind that. Hell, there are tons of reasons behind that. None of them good. Even the fact that I'm writing this and the fact that I resumed posting photos, doesn't mean I'm "better"...it just means I'm trying to get a hold on myself before...

Well, into some other business. Recently I saw the American Gangster. I liked the movie at that time. then, after a while I started trying to understand why. After all, the storyline wasn't so original or complex. Then it hit me. It wasn't the movie that left me stunned. It was the scenery. The reconstruction of the 70s's New York. I remembered watching the movie and having the urge to be there (in the company of a camera). This episode made me think about lots of things. One of them was: why a decrepit society and a place that hardly anyone can find beauty. I even remembered a "pole" andymumford had a while ago about the places people wanted to visit/photograph before they ran out of time. Well, maybe I'll tell (anyone who is reading this) the places I would like to visit: Prypiat (Chernobyl), New York, Antarctic, Tierra del Fuego, Sahara, Alaska, Tibet, Japan, Scotland (the highlands), abandoned Soviet army facilities (weird, no?), Auschwitz/Birkenau II and a few more...

Conclusion: I'm just weird

P.S.: this CSS is not mine..the author is 33xit..i just made minor modifications

Unusual and interesting views are what this deviant have to offer. And that's a lot in this case. Architecture and landscapes are the most prominent theme of his images. High contrast and the occasional color modification go just well in this style, along with the composition that favors the diagonal of the image has a privileged place for the horizon. Currently...

...on a time out from university. That allowed me time for this lousy piece of CSS journal you're seeing right now and to organize and publish some photos I had for some time. Lately I've been Adobe Lightroom for processing, but the damn program seems to speak a different color language than the one Photoshop uses and the one my monitor uses...so..it's black and white to me...no, that's not the reason behind my latest photos...those can be explained by the lack of interest the color in the original files have and the fact that they gain a whole different impact in black and white.
You probably have noticed - or not - that in the last weeks I was kind of away from deviantart, which lead to a massive amount of deviations to see...well, I certainly can't see or comment all, so if I couldn't do it to your works, don't take it in the wrong way..meanwhile, this short break will end and work will come has heavy has before so I guess "time is running out" for me...oh, about this crappy CSS....it's a work in progress...without deadline...opinions are accepted.

A great photographer with beautiful landscape photos, rich in colors with magnificent compositions. Gorgeous sunsets or even sunrises can be found in his gallery, along with images from exotic places and misty seas. And now some of my favorites from his gallery:

The fourth edition

A late one, but..well..it's here..
First things first. University as re-started..clases are already on their way and works is starting to come..not a very nice thing to expect in a near future...countless sleeping hours lost for a lousy piesce of work that hardly anyone apreciates...
Second..yes, I've been away from dA..it hapens..from time to time...and the consequence of that are 143 deviations to see (and 65 other messanges already answered)...it will take some time...and don't expect a comment in each deviation you may have...
Third...I bought a new lens for my camera..it's a close-up lens (I didn't even knew they existed)..maybe now I'll start having nicer macro photos...still trying the thing though..
Fourth...somehow, I've been feeling..well..empty..I got no new ideas, nothing really important or worth seeing..that's why this piece of internet that I call "my gallery" is being...well..."abandoned"
Fifth ...the previous "item" doesn't mean I have stop comming here...I've been seeing everyone's work, just not feeling in the mod to comment it..that's why I«ve been saving it for better times...
Sixth (hey, I've been away a lot of time, I got a lot to say :XD:)...latelly I've been talking to a friend about the quality of dA and the way people are using it..seriously, it disgusts me..I entered to this community to show my work, get feedbacks and improve...but I've been seeing brats trying every way to say "heey, I'm here, gimme some attention", emo-selfish-crap, guys and girls using this as hi5 or other misplaced dating service, and companies trying to sell something to someone...
Seventh..there are excpetions of course...today someone showed me that there still are people who only care mainly about art. there's still hope for dA

now for all portuguese people..and other ones if you're intersted: until october 22, ther will be ax exhibition at "Centro cultural de belém" under the title of "World Press Photo". It's worth everyone's time, I assure you. For more information click here . for a "sample" of the exhibition click here

Concept..the first word that I cant thing of when I see her gallery. Driven by her feelings, her works are..well, personal. Fresh and unique ideas come out of her mind like star in a night sky. Whenever I go see her photos I end up thinking about many aspects of my life that normally I would ignore. Also, her descriptions of her photos are magnificent pieces of literature (for the ones that can understand). Well, like previous times ..let the images speak for themselves.

and I finish with a statement she has on an image: "if haven't given yourself to anybody, you have hurt somebody"

The third edition

Well, there's not really much to tell this week...only I've done the first kind-of-model-photographic-session wich turned out ok, I guess...nothing too good but nothing bad..some of the photos came out to be almost a complete surprise.
besides that I tried long-exposure shots (with a help from my father's tripod...that I took without asking..)...the result was something amazing...
well....now that I told all that could have some sort of meaning fo this journal, the only thing left is a warm welcome to a long disappeared fellow deviant, brainwaves (bem vinda, mais uma vez:aww:)

the more detail a draw has, the better it becomes. and, in terms of detail this artist is one of the best. After all, part of his signature is "The smallest of details make up the biggest of pictures.".
Drawing mostly without colors, the contor detail and the shadows become very important in his work, mixing a almost realist light/shadow treatment with a more stylized anime kind-of-draw.
but enough is enough and since in this, pictures speak more than words...

The second edition :w00t:

It has been a week since the last one and, for what I'm counting in the near future, this journal will remain weekly.

I've bee trying to make some changes in my gallery, but it seems throwing things to scraps is not so easy anymore - even though their category is now "scraps" they seem to like the spot in the main gallery...darn those little bastards :pissed: .
Another bug seems to be related to baixa.chiado.series.06 ..somehow it doesn't appear in the gallery:|

In other news, I am thinking about getting a prints account. I don't know if it will worth it but..well..it's "only" 20€ I have to lose...I have already some opinions, but they are never too much.

well..that's enough chatting. if you want to know more, don't hesitate to ask :aww:

creator of a magnificent gallery, rulled by skies, lakes, his cats and beautifull nature pictures.

the colours on his photos are breath taking, and he seems to be at the right time in the best spot to capture an amazing photo. the calm and serenity that his bright coloured pictures contrast with the hilarious coments on, for instance, his own cats photos.

Well, better to finish here and let show what I can't put in words.

É seres alma, e sangue, e vida em mim
E dizê-lo cantando a toda a gente!."
